In this series, ���ϲ����� College, the College of Arts and Sciences is shining the spotlight on distinguished members of the Class of 2021 from a wide array of disciplines.

These current students and alumni have been selected for the prestigious program that offers opportunities for recent graduates in more than 140 countries.

During a panel discussion on April 28, ���ϲ����� faculty and staff from the university and the school of law discussed the significance of the conviction of former police officer Derek Chauvin in the killing of George Floyd last year.

The panel discussion, scheduled for April 28 at 7 p.m., will be hosted live on Zoom and moderated by Damion Blake, assistant professor of political science and policy studies.

Evan A. Gatti, associate professor of art history, presented “Legacies of Privilege: Making Meaning for Medieval Manuscripts” at the 46th annual Sewanee Medieval Colloquium.

The annual geography lecture on March 26 will feature Priscilla McCutcheon from the University of Kentucky.

Faculty and community members spoke of the legacy of grief and terror spawned by ongoing racial inequity and violence. ���ϲ����� must address its past and accelerate change for justice and equality, they said.

Sowande’ Mustakeem ’00, author of “Slavery at Sea: Terror, Sex and Sickness in the Middle Passage,” shares her story of loss, triumph and success, since graduating as ���ϲ�����’s first African & African-American Studies major.

Sierra Club’s “Lens on the Border” photo exhibition is part of third biennial On the Edge symposium series. This year’s symposium will examine how cultural and religious forces interact at areas of physical and perceived intersection.
