ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Sustainability’s November theme is Sustainable Foods. We encourage you to support ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s local farmers this month.

In honor of National Food Day, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Dining Services is hosting a locally inspired lunch in Colonnades Dining Hall on Monday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lunch is $9.95 a person.

Community on the Commons not only started the school year off right but was also a great success for sustainability at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. This event was planned around the ability to compost or recycle all items provided with the meal.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Sustainability’s October theme is Energy Conservation. We encourage you to make a few changes this month to reduce your energy use.

From today until October 20, 2011 - ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Zimride is hosting a $50 Visa Gift Card give-a-way.

Monthly themes are new this year to the Office of Sustainability. Each month a new topic will be chosen to concentrate on through our events, advocacy tactics and social media. We are asking students to also help spread the word and educate the others about the monthly theme by participating in events and living out the theme in their daily lives.

Zipcar has announced that it will be giving ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students, faculty and staff a membership discount. New members will receive $10 off their first year Zipcar membership and the hourly rate for Ford vehicles on campus will be reduced by $1 an hour.

Students and faculty gathered in Lindner Hall on Sept. 23 for a sustainability meeting hosted by the Student Sustainability Council. The meeting was an open forum for everyone to discuss sustainability efforts on campus, promote environmental awareness and propose new ideas for the upcoming year.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s commitment to sustainability has earned the university the distinction of being named one of the “greenest” schools in the country. The university’s profile is included in The Princeton Review's Guide to 286 Green Colleges, which was released April 20 and profiles the nation’s most environmentally-responsible campuses.
