ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ trustees gathered with Phoenix athletics fans and many other friends of the university to dedicate Alumni Field House on April 16. The 30,000-square-foot facility at the north end of Rhodes Stadium in the North Athletics Complex serves as the headquarters for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s sports programs.

A wellness program for local fourth and fifth graders concluded Tuesday at the Koury Athletic Center when two dozen boys learned about physical fitness and setting goals from their ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ mentors. And if ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ junior Brett Brawerman has his way, the CHAMPS program – short for “Coaching Health and Mentoring Positive Students” – will be something colleges elsewhere can replicate.

Men’s basketball manager finalist in UPS Store contest

The manager of the Phoenix men’s basketball team, Johnson, a junior marketing major from Raleigh, N.C., is one of four finalists in a video contest sponsored by the UPS Store in which people can vote for their favorite collegiate basketball manager.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student video project nominated for PBS special

Three ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students in an environmental communications course have had a class video project named a finalist for a PBS television special in April, and if their work receives the top number of votes in an online contest, the network may show the project this spring to a national audience.

Jason Swepson named new head football coach

Veteran ACC assistant football coach Jason Swepson has been named ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's new head football coach. The announcement came at a Jan. 10 news conference in Alumni Gym, attended by more than 300 Phoenix fans and members of the football team.
