Mike Davis saw many ways to help his classmates thrive during their legal studies. His passion for bettering the community earned him ���ϲ����� School of Law’s top student honor at Commencement for embodying the highest levels of selfless leadership and service.

���ϲ�����’s School of Law and School of Health Sciences celebrated the pride and heritage of students who recognize their African roots in a Commencement eve program filled with laughs, cheers, and many boxes of tissues for the tears of joy of both graduates and their guests.

In her Commencement address to the Class of 2021, attorney Deborah Enix-Ross of the American Bar Association emphasized how "our justice system does not function properly when vulnerable people who are poor are forced to appear in court without a lawyer."

Graduates were recognized in a virtual program with school and professional honors for advocacy, academic excellence, and excellence in service.

Deborah Enix-Ross, a senior adviser to the International Dispute Resolution Group of Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City, will offer reflections and wisdom in December when ���ϲ����� Law graduates the Class of 2021.

Julianna Kober’s efforts to help digitize hundreds of pre-Civil War bills of sale of people enslaved in Greensboro, North Carolina, and nearby communities earned her ���ϲ����� School of Law’s top honor for embodying the highest levels of selfless leadership and service.

Led by a matching gift from an anonymous donor, ���ϲ����� Law’s Class of 2020 expanded a student emergency fund and sponsored a memorial that will celebrate the legacy of Dean Emeritus George R. Johnson, Jr.

���ϲ����� Law’s Donning of the Kente ceremony on the eve of Commencement for the Class of 2020 was the first to be hosted in a virtual format as graduates active in the Black Law Students Association and their families celebrated the significance of their achievement.

���ϲ����� Law conferred degrees Saturday on 122 graduates who celebrated the end of their legal education with an online ceremony streamed from Alumni Gym and featuring an address by Chief Judge Roger L. Gregory of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
