Professor Naeemah Clark and Associate Professor Ben Hannam take over the top leadership positions of the Cinema & Television Arts Department and Communication Design Department, respectively. Vic Costello has been named director of communications core and minor.

In the most recent edition of the ���ϲ����� Journal, student researchers delve into a variety of media-related topics, including how public relations agencies responded to the Black Lives Matter movement and what journalistic lessons are conveyed in “Spotlight” and “All the President’s Men.”

Here's a look at where some of the 2021 School of Communications grads are headed after ���ϲ�����.

The broadcast journalism major wrote, executive produced and stars in a feature-length film, titled “Shapeless,” that touches on her personal struggles with an eating disorder.

During the 2020-21 academic year, graduate students Matthew Harrell G’21 and Madeleine Horrell G’21 served as studio managers, ensuring that undergraduate students could broadcast and televise during the pandemic.

During its annual awards ceremony, hosted May 6 in Turner Theatre, the school acknowledged high achievement from students, faculty and staff.

The film is part of a North Carolina shorts category and will be screened in person on Wednesday, May 12, and virtually on Thursday, May 13.

Eighteen members of the School of Communications Advisory Board met virtually on April 28 to discuss their professional industries, the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine and what future months will look like for businesses and organizations, and potential changes to the school’s curricula.

The ���ϲ����� junior will participate in the Television Academy Foundation program, fondly dubbed the “Emmy’s internship,” this summer.

The ���ϲ����� chapter will host four speakers to discuss maintaining mental health as reporters on Thursday, April 22, at 5:30 p.m. The event will be held in Schar Hall, room 212, with a virtual option also available.
