A partnership between ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s It Takes a Village Project and the Harvest Table Culinary Group has included an innovative approach that incorporates cooking into helping students understand mathematical concepts.

The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Black Alumni Network presented awards Nov. 3 to five members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community as part of its Homecoming festivities

Cindy Fair, Tony Crider, Haya Ajjan and Jean Rattigan-Rohr shared their innovative scholarship, insights into teaching and approaches to community engagement at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Talks: Faculty Voices.

The generous gift from ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Trustee Louis DeJoy and his wife, Dr. Aldona Wos, of Greensboro, North Carolina, will assist students with exceptional ability and high financial need from Title I schools in Guilford County.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to two retired faculty members and two steadfast supporters of the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four named professorships during the event. 

From July 9-20, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is hosting 176 Alamance-Burlington School System students at Summer in the Village, a summer academic preparedness and enrichment program of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's It Takes a Village Project. 

Monday's gathering on Scott Plaza in front of the Alamance Building offered an opportunity to welcome new and returning members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Academy, the university's college access and success program for local high school students.

A member of the Class of 2018 will be able to share this special day with her parents, neither of whom have been out of their home country before. 

Friends, family and supporters gathered with members of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Academy's Kappa Class to cheer them on as they prepare to attend colleges and universities around the state this fall.
