Hundreds gathered outside Alamance Building on Thursday night for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's annual Festival of Holiday Lights, with luminaries glowing in honor of alumni and student donors. 

The professorship is funded by an endowment from Trustee Edward Doherty and his wife, Joan, of Saddle River, New Jersey.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumnus and Trustee John R. Hill ’76 and his wife, Lesley, continue their generous support of the university with two major gifts.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ parents Dwight and Martha Schar made the largest single gift in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ history, pledging $12 million to name two new buildings on campus, including the recently opened Dwight C. Schar Hall.

Mike Driskill ’89 and his wife, Robin, of Raleigh, N.C., utilized planned giving to make a significant impact on ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's future.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumna Gail H. LaRose ’64 and her daughter Michelle LaRose, an ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ trustee, have made a $2.5 million gift to name a new student gathering space planned for the historic part of campus.

Support from Trustee Cindy Citrone and her husband, Rob, will enable ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ to integrate design thinking into curricular and co-curricular experiences across the campus. 

The celebration will be Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. in McCrary Theatre with a community reception to follow. 

The Tims Access Scholarship will assist students from Mississippi and surrounding states. 

The university is grateful to Kevin Tedeschi P'18 for his support of Richard W. Sankey Hall, which will provide much-needed classrooms and learning facilities for students.
