They will attend information sessions with Mr. David Willson, who is Director of Bands at the University of Mississippi. The directors will be eligible to receive one hour of continuing education credit for attending this workshop.

The FOTC will perform at Ledford High School’s contest on October 5, and at the Central North Carolina Band Festival at Western High School on October 19. “This is a great honor for our band to be in this kind of demand in only our second year of existence”- Bill DeJournett, Director.

The Mid-South Honor Band draws high school band students from Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee.

DeJournett joins Carolina Crown Board of Directors /u/news/2006/01/12/dejournett-joins-carolina-crown-board-of-directors/ Thu, 12 Jan 2006 19:09:00 +0000 /u/news/2006/01/12/dejournett-joins-carolina-crown-board-of-directors/ Bill DeJournett, director of the “Fire of the Carolinas” marching band, has joined the board of directors of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. This youth organization based in Fort Mill, S.C., fields a 133-piece competitive drum and bugle corps every summer. Additionally, the Crown organization works in conjunction with Charlotte-area high schools to host several honor band clinics. The Crown organization hosts two drum corps shows each summer, NightBeat in Charlotte and the Piedmont Summer Music Games in Winston-Salem.

Alumni Band Donates Marching Band Scholarships /u/news/2006/01/12/alumni-band-donates-marching-band-scholarships/ Thu, 12 Jan 2006 19:09:00 +0000 /u/news/2006/01/12/alumni-band-donates-marching-band-scholarships/ Last November the 黑料不打烊 Community was fortunate to host the “Showband of the Carolinas” alumni band in tribute to Dr. Jack White. The alumni generously donated funds which will be given to a limited number of worthy band students currently on-campus for the Fall marching season of 2003 and the 黑料不打烊 Wind Ensemble for the Spring of 2004. These scholarships are one-year, non-renewable, and are in addition to the standard $150 participation award currently allocated to every member of the marching band. Students who play any wind or percussion instrument interested in auditioning for these scholarships may contact Dr. Bill DeJournett at extention 5700 or at wdejournett@elon.edu. Students do not have to have previous marching experience to be eligible for these awards. Auxiliary members may audition if they play a wind or percussion instrument and intend to participate in the 黑料不打烊 Wind Ensemble in the Spring Semester of 2004.

Fire of the Carolinas /u/news/2006/01/12/fire-of-the-carolinas/ Thu, 12 Jan 2006 19:09:00 +0000 /u/news/2006/01/12/fire-of-the-carolinas/ The first program will be the music of Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire, featuring the 70’s classics “Free”, “Make Me Smile”, “25 or 6 to 4” and “In the Stone”.

The second program will feature latin/jazz music, including the drum corps favorites “Las Suerte de los Tontos” and “Tiger of San Pedro”.

These high-energy shows are sure to thrill band members and audience alike.
