Student Communications Agency Deadline Nov. 9 /u/news/2007/11/08/student-communications-agency-deadline-nov-9/ Thu, 08 Nov 2007 19:56:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/11/08/student-communications-agency-deadline-nov-9/ The School of Communications is now accepting student applications for account executives, creative team, team leaders, and assistant director to participate in the student-run communications agency that was launched in the fall of 2007.  Live Oak Communications has already worked to develop and execute public relations, advertising and integrated communications programs for real clients in the North Carolina region, including both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.

Students from all majors and years are welcome to apply for account executive positions and creative team executives.  Team leaders are required to be of junior or senior status and the assistant director should be a junior. Account executives and team leaders will serve the agency for one semester and will be eligible to receive one credit hour from the School of Communications per semester. The assistant director will serve the agency for one semester and receive two credit hours from the School of Communications. The assistant director will also be paid for the semester and will have the opportunity to apply for director the following year.

The term “account executive” is a professional communications term used to describe executives who work on a specific client account.  Live Oak is structured into client teams, with account executives assigned to each team.  The creative team executives will assist with any creative work in the agency. Tasks will include graphic design, website design, video editing, and more! Team leaders will lead each team in creating a client plan and help with overseeing the implementation of that plan over the course of the semester. The assistant director will work very closely with the director and faculty adviser to oversee the Live Oak Communications budget, meet with clients, and much more.

 

The firm will be looking for students with excellent writing skills, as well as enthusiasm, resourcefulness, creativity and critical thinking skills. In addition to written communications abilities, the agency is also interested in applicants with visual technology expertise, including video and film production and graphic design.

Students may apply for account executive, creative team, team leader, or assistant director by filling out an application and returning it by Nov. 9 to Professor Lee Bush, Campus Box 2850 or by turning it into the School of Communications office.

Interviews for account executives, team leaders, and assistant director will be conducted in mid November by the director and assistant director of the student agency.
