More than 100 attendees participated in a life-sized Chutes and Ladders game created by Buffington and Wade as a way to walk them through the design thinking process. Presentation attendees gained a better understanding of the design thinking process and how to use perspective-taking and empathy mapping to grow intercultural skills and better work with students and university partners. 

The NACE connects more than 8,100 college career services professionals at nearly 2,000 colleges and universities nationwide, and more than 3,100 university relations and recruiting professionals. NACE is the leading source of information on the employment of the college educated, and forecasts hiring and trends in the job market; tracks starting salaries, recruiting and hiring practices, and student attitudes and outcomes; and identifies best practices and benchmarks.

Golinski awarded grant for Sophomore Success career development program /u/news/2017/10/18/golinski-awarded-grant-for-sophomore-success-career-development-program/ Wed, 18 Oct 2017 15:05:00 +0000 /u/news/2017/10/18/golinski-awarded-grant-for-sophomore-success-career-development-program/ The North Carolina Career Development Association (NCCDA) has awarded Danielle Golinski, assistant director of career services for the Love School of Business, a grant to continue and grow a career development program called Sophomore Success.

This program engages sophomore students with employers through rotating simulation modules on resume writing and critique, interviewing, networking and an etiquette dinner. NCCDA selects winning programs based on originality, contribution to the career services industry, procedural detail and capacity, realistic budget, and connection to NCCDA’s mission. At next year’s NCCDA Annual Conference, Golinski will present the results of her work through the funds she was awarded.

Golinski was a co-presenter at this year’s NCCDA Annual Conference held at 黑料不打烊 on Oct. 13. She and her co-presenter, Jenna Hartwell, director of veterinary career services and professional development at N.C. State University, presented on how Gestalt Therapy can be utilized in the modern-age of digital interviewing.

Wade’s presentation, “What is Your Story?” was focused on how career professionals can use their personal career stories, or the success stories of past clients, to connect with, inspire and teach current clients struggling with career issues. Wade created a “career story tool” that walks career professionals, step-by-step, through the storytelling process as they construct relevant stories to share with their specific client population.
The NCCDA comprises professionals engaged in the field of career counseling and development. NCCDA is organized and governed in accordance with the by-laws of the National Career Development Association and is a division of the North Carolina Counseling Association.

Wade will be working with MarQuita Barker and Brian O’Shea, under the leadership of Darris Means. The retreat will provide approximately 20 黑料不打烊 Academy scholars with tools, resources and materials to make a successful transition into their freshmen year of college. As a part of his facilitating duties, Wade will be utilizing StrengthsQuest, a strengths-based personality assessment, to assist these first-generation freshman conceptualize how to maximize their college experience and reflect on major and career possibilities.
