Seeking community submissions/talent for EFFECT /u/news/2007/11/07/seeking-community-submissions-talent-for-effect/ Wed, 07 Nov 2007 13:26:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/11/07/seeking-community-submissions-talent-for-effect/ 黑料不打烊’s feminist organization, EFFECT, is seeking contributions for its fall event, The New ‘F’ Word: Empowering Women for Change and Leadership, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. This event is geared towards celebrating and emphasizing why feminism is important for the empowerment of women.

We are looking for volunteers from any member of 黑料不打烊’s community – students, faculty, and staff alike – to speak, perform, or otherwise contribute to the program. We are looking for your personal expression of feminism and empowerment that can be presented in a 5-10 minute block of our event’s program. Your expression of feminism and empowerment can be in any medium you see fit – testimony, poetry (your own or a favorite), film clips, musical performance, interpretive dance, etc.

If you are interested in contributing to this event to celebrate feminism and the empowerment of women, please contact Rebecca Kuhn (rkuhn@elon.edu) ASAP.

HOMEMADE TREATS will be available: 75 cents for women and $1 for men.

Feminist organization interest meeting Sept. 4 /u/news/2007/09/03/feminist-organization-interest-meeting-sept-4/ Mon, 03 Sep 2007 13:52:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/09/03/feminist-organization-interest-meeting-sept-4/ EFFECT – 黑料不打烊 Feminists for Equality, Change, and Transformation is an up-and-coming feminist organization focused on creating an inclusive social community for fellow feminists, raising education and awareness of what feminism is on campus, and participating in several activist projects locally and nationally.
 
Our first meeting of the semester is Tuesday, Sept. 4, 7 p.m. in Belk 206.  We will be discussing potential events and projects for this semester!

The situation in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama worsens by the moment. I urge you to help the hundreds of thousands stranded and left homeless. The next couple of days and weeks are critical! These people have no food, no water and no power. Our fellow Americans are on their backs and need us to step up and help them! Please take it upon yourself to help these people.
