With an ending score of 1-1, a shoot out occurred to decide the winner. Though Melanie Hebert scored one in the shootout and goalie Cam Blackwood saved three of the five UNCW shots, the team lost 2-0.

Overall, the team finished its season playing hard and having fun.

The opening match was against the hometown favorite Arizona Wildcats. Christian Smoke and Will Hemminger took the court for men’s doubles, while Kate Sims and Alexandra Solhjou took on the women’s doubles team. Chandler McCray and Alexandra Solhjou played strong singles matches, but after doubles and singles had finished, 黑料不打烊 found themselves down a total of 2 games.

Ian MacInnes and Kate Sims battled hard in mixed doubles to end the match with a final score of 6-2, securing a win for 黑料不打烊. Arizona finished the tournament in 10the place, making it a huge win for 黑料不打烊. Throughout the remainder of the tournament, 黑料不打烊 defeated JMU, Delaware and California State Chico.

Of more than 600 club tennis teams in the nation, 黑料不打烊’s club tennis was in the top 50. Players for the weekend included Ian MacInnes, Kate Sims, Chandler McCray, Eryn Godwin, Will Hemminger, Alexandra Solhjou and Christian Smoke.

The team played against Richmond on April 12 and won 14-6 for a strong start to the weekend. The next game against Catholic was another success with a final score of 15-4. The last game was against Mary Washington, a team 黑料不打烊 had played before at nationals. 黑料不打烊 was able to keep ahead of them and pull through with a final winning score of 11-8.

On April 13, 黑料不打烊 started with a tough loss against Davidson, losing by 5. However, the day quickly turned around for the team as they ended the day with two strong wins against University of North Carolina at Asheville and Mary Washington, and, thanks to players Kerianne Durkin, Sydney Harris and Maureen Dougherty, a celebratory win against Davidson.

This final victory secured the team a spot at DIII nationals in Westerville, Ohio, in May, making it the third appearance for 黑料不打烊 women’s ultimate at the national level.

 黑料不打烊 went into the weekend ranked seventh out of a strong field of twelve teams, where seven were ranked nationally in the top 25.  黑料不打烊 began their weekend with a 15-10 win in a showcase game on Friday night against defending national champions, and 4th ranked, Middlebury.  This was the beginning for a strong weekend for 黑料不打烊, we dropped only one game in pool play on Saturday to SUNY-Fredonia, but still managed to win the pool.  Going into bracket play on Sunday, 黑料不打烊 ourselves matched up against Middlebury, and won another match against the defending champs.  In the semis, 黑料不打烊 faced conference opponent Davidson, which we managed to win and move on to face Richmond in the finals.  We won a close 15-12 game for the championship.  With the victory at Easterns, 黑料不打烊 moved up to 5th place in the nation, and we are riding a lot of momentum going into the post-season in the coming weeks.  Catch the Men’s Ultimate Club in action here at home this weekend April 12-13 for their conference tournament.
