Rudd worked with the school’s first full-time librarian and assisted 黑料不打烊 students in organizing, classifying and labeling 4,500 new books. Two 黑料不打烊 students painted a mural for the library. 

The librarian position and book donations were made possible by the SASA 2015 class as well as other donations to the Global Links Library and Literacy Campaign, one of several service projects developed by Layne as part of 黑料不打烊’s study abroad South Africa course. 

Since 2007 the SASA program has built a legacy of service to Ekukhanyisweni Primary School, providing books and computers for its library. Other initiatives include providing students with school uniforms, shoes, and school supplies. Each year, SASA students also brighten up the school with fresh paint and murals.

Be sure and see the new READ posters, which feature President Emeritus Earl Danieley, Physical Plant Staff Members Eva Boone and Tallulah Shaw, and Honors Program Directors Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler and Michael Carignan with Honors Students Cara McClain and Robert Rawlings. Join us for late evening cookies and coffee on Wednesday, April 11 at 10:00 p.m.  Be sure and register at the Information Desk for a free book and gift card from Barnes and Noble. You can now request through the catalog for material to be held for you to pick up at the circulation desk. Faculty and staff may request for items to be delivered to their offices. .
