Italian Festival celebrates Italian food /u/news/2013/10/18/italian-festival-celebrates-italian-food/ Fri, 18 Oct 2013 14:35:00 +0000 /u/news/2013/10/18/italian-festival-celebrates-italian-food/ On Tuesday morning, Italian studies will sponsor 黑料不打烊’s weekly College Coffee. Come on out to Phi Beta Kappa Plaza (weather permitting) and taste some Italian sweets, listen to some Italian music and meet the professors of the Italian Studies Minor program. Nothing says Italian like good coffee and conversation!

Tuesday afternoon will feature two cooking competition events in the style of Top Chef and Iron Chef. The first competition will pit sauce against sauce as we try to find 黑料不打烊’s Top Sauce. Contestants bring their already prepared sauce and a panel of expert judges with taste, compare and vote for their favorite. At the end, one worthy competitor will win bragging rights and a gift certificate.

Afterward, two contestants will go head to head in 黑料不打烊’s Iron Chef competition. Each will receive a mystery bag of supplies and have 30 minutes to create a spectacular Italian dish. At the end, the dishes will be judged for taste and appearance. The winner claims bragging rights and a gift certificate.

Please email Professor Melita (mmelita@elon.edu) if you are interested in competing in either competition. All contestants must be registered by 12 noon on Monday, October 21, 2013.

Much of the film lacks difficult dialoge and focuses mainly on Nichetti’s incomparable physical comedy. The film will be shown with subtitles so all audience members can enjoy it, with or without knowledge of the Italian language.
