The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Alumni Board welcomed new members and leaders at its spring meeting April 8-10. The board addressed a number of topics, including Homecoming 2010, enhancements to regional alumni chapter programming and the alumni travel program, and how alumni can continue to support the fundraising endeavors of the university.

Former Phoenix linebacker Chad Nkang has signed a contract to play with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

In the years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks focused America’s attention toward the Middle East and southwest Asia, middle and high school educators have sought literature to help students understand the people and cultures of the region. Associate professor of English Megan Isaac offers help for those teachers in her second book, Suzanne Fisher Staples: The Setting is the Story, which focuses on one of America's award-winning young-adult fiction authors.

In week five of the POWERless Energy Competition, nearly all (95 percent) of the residential buildings taking part in this year's event showed a reduction in energy use. The top building of the week in Division I was Oaks A, which showed a 53.2 percent reduction. In Division II, the distinction goes to the Kenan Pavilion in the Academic Village with a 60 percent reduction.

Omri Shimron often finds himself caught between two worlds. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., but raised in Haifa, Israel, Shimron, assistant professor of music, has bridged those two worlds through music.

Recently, the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community honored President Emeritus J. Earl Danieley ’46 on Founders Day. And while Danieley might be the most celebrated alumnus working at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, he’s joined by more than 120 fellow graduates of the past few decades. Some leave and come back, others become faculty and staff immediately after Commencement, but they agree on one point: ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is a great place to live and work.
