After a childhood experience piqued his curiosity for the unknown, Lee Steele ’78 has spent countless hours investigating reports of paranormal activity across North Carolina.

More than 2,500 people gathered on campus Oct. 18 to celebrate ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's 2014 Homecoming.

Four outstanding members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community were honored with the LGBTQIA Community Enrichment Awards during an Oct. 19 event in Johnston Hall.

More than 100 members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community attended the Oct. 17 event that kicked off this year’s Homecoming festivities with the recognition of eight distinguished alumni and class and affinity volunteers.

As part of the Homecoming 2014 festivities, the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Black Alumni Network celebrated the accomplishments of black alumni, faculty and staff during a special celebration.

The awards are the highest accolades conferred by the Office of Alumni Engagement and have been presented annually to alumni and friends of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ since 1941.

Class members contributed more than $95,000 to the university in honor of the milestone.

Make plans to return to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ from Oct. 17-19 for Homecoming 2014, a weekend of events that include football, tailgating, alumni award ceremonies and service activities.

Amanda Ketner ’11, a math teacher at Woods Charter School in Chapel Hill, N.C., visited campus Oct. 2 with several students to hear husband-and-wife Pulitzer Prize-winners Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, whose book inspired her to create a chapter of Girls Learn International at the school.

Jamie Sclater ’02, who is representing the U.S. Marine Corps, has won several gold and silver medals in his division for swimming at the 2014 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs.
