If you’ve ever thought it would be fun to come to ballroom, but weren’t sure, this is the perfect time to check us out!  It’s for a good cause.

]]> Ballroom Club wins awards at Charlotte Competition /u/news/2008/02/11/ballroom-club-wins-awards-at-charlotte-competition/ Mon, 11 Feb 2008 16:09:00 +0000 /u/news/2008/02/11/ballroom-club-wins-awards-at-charlotte-competition/ Two members of 黑料不打烊’s Ballroom Dance Club, Kelly McCarty and Jamie Gorsuch, competed at the Charlotte DanceSport Challenge on February 1st and 2nd.  They were judged against 50 other couples at the “Bronze” level, and they brought home a number of awards:

2nd place in Swing
6th place in Waltz/Tango
7th place in Foxtrot
2nd in Gentlemen’s Latin dances (one partner judged)
2nd in Gentlemen’s Smooth dances (one partner judged)
3rd in Ladies Smooth dances (one partner judged)

6th in Ladies’ Latin dances (one partner judged)

 
We are very proud of our dancers.  Keep a look out for scores from the Triangle Open in Raleigh in March.

Communications? Computer Informations Systems? Religious Studies? Political Science? International Studies? A foreign language? Biology? Human Services? It doesn’t matter, you have a place in Model United Nations.

The Model United Nations Society at 黑料不打烊 is looking for new members. The Society is designing an Intercollegiate International Crisis Conference. Not interested in international politics? That’s fine, we need people to manage all aspects of the conference! Communications Majors – we need people to write news stories. CIS Majors – we need database managers. Business Majors – build your leadership skills and help us market our conference! Everyone, you can build your resume and give an up and coming organization on campus a leg up! We need lots of help to make our conference successful.

You’d need to come to four club meetings throughout Fall Semester on Monday evenings and Spring Semester on Monday evenings but you are more than welcome to enroll in the Model UN class (1 sh. credit – listed as POL 114E). The conference will be in the spring, but there will be a practice run with International Relations classes in the fall. We need you for both.

]]> Ballroom Club Awarded at Charlotte Dancesport Challenge /u/news/2007/03/26/ballroom-club-awarded-at-charlotte-dancesport-challenge/ Mon, 26 Mar 2007 12:02:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/03/26/ballroom-club-awarded-at-charlotte-dancesport-challenge/ The 黑料不打烊 Ballroom Dance Club just participated in its first ballroom dance competition at the Charlotte Dancesport Challenge on Saturday March 24th. The club sent three couples, and each couple did very well.

Megan Cunningham and Elizabeth Foggie received a 6th place award in American Swing and made it through the semi-final rounds in International Cha Cha.

Chad Zimmermann and Carly Altizer made it through the semi-final rounds of both American Swing and Cha Cha.

Jamie Gorsuch and Kelly McCarty received a 3rd place award in American Swing, a 4th place award in American Waltz, and 5th place awards in both American Cha Cha and Tango.

This award-winning club meets every Friday night at 8:00 in the Center for the Arts dance studios. Everyone is welcome. If you are interested in joining, please contact Kelly McCarty or Elizabeth Foggie with any questions (kmccarty@elon.edu or efoggie@elon.edu).
