Society of Physics Students organizational meeting

All interested students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the Society of Physics Students organizational meeting for the reading/discussion group. The book for spring term is “The Elegant Universe” by Columbia University Professor Brian Greene.

“The Elegant Universe” is an insider’s account of the development of superstring theory, currently one of the most active areas of research in both mathematics and physics. Despite the heavy nature of the subject, Professor Greene’s book is very accessible to the interested layman. Copies will be available in the university bookstore.

Physics 118 Labs Begin February 9

Introductory Physics labs begin Monday, February 9. Lab manuals will be available from SPS members in 202 McMichael Thursday, Feb. 5, and Friday, Feb.6, from 12:00 pm-5:00 pm. Cost is only $2.00. Please get your copy before the first lab meeting.

Physics 118 labs begin meeting the week of February 9. Lab manuals will be available in 202 McMichael from the Society of Physics Students on Thursday, February 5, and Friday, February 6. Price again is $2.00 (cheap!).

Note for Physics 111 and 113 students

If you are taking either Physics 111 or Physics 113, you must also register for Physics 117, General Physics Laboratory. Please make certain that you are properly registered and that you attend the section for which you are registered. First meetings of the labs will be the week of September 1. Sorry to start on Labor Day, but you will finish by Thanksgiving!

Lab manuals may be purchased from the Society of Physics Students in 205 McMichael. Details on times will be announced by the lecture professors on the first day of class.
