Kopper Top animal food drive through April 15 /u/news/2010/03/30/kopper-top-animal-food-drive-through-april-15/ Tue, 30 Mar 2010 20:53:00 +0000 /u/news/2010/03/30/kopper-top-animal-food-drive-through-april-15/ Kopper Top Life Learning Center is doing an animal food drive through April 15

We need dog food, cat food, guinea pig food, dog treats (milk bones), horse treats (carrots, apples, etc – no sugar please), and fresh and dried fruit for the bunnies and guinea pigs.

Our favorite kinds of food are more natural (fewer preservatives, additives, etc), but we would love anything you are able to donate. Please let me know if you’re able to donate anything by contacting me at koppertop@elon.edu. This week, I’ll probably ask that you bring your item(s) to the Kernodle Center where I will pick them up and take them out to the farm. I’m working on setting up drop off locations around campus as well.

This will help to fill a pressing need at Kopper Top. If you’re interested in volunteering at Kopper Top, please shoot me an e-mail.  This is a beautiful time of year to get involved!

KCSL: Kopper Top Life Learning Center /u/news/2009/10/15/kcsl-kopper-top-life-learning-center/ Thu, 15 Oct 2009 19:05:00 +0000 /u/news/2009/10/15/kcsl-kopper-top-life-learning-center/ Do you like to work with animals or miss your pets from home?

Are you looking for an opportunity to get off-campus and play?

Would you like to help children with disabilities?

Kopper Top Life Learning Center is a place where you can do all of this!  It’s a non-profit therapeutic horseback riding facility primarily, but there are many ways that you can help.

For example, you can help with lessons, working directly with children who have disabilities and the horses they ride.

Or, you can volunteer with pet-therapy, a program that takes the small animals (dogs, cats, and bunnies) to assisted-living facilities.

Or, you can be part of a fundraising/advertising/general PR kind of team.  This is something we’re in desparate need of!

Or, you could even work on finding and writing grants (great experience for English and Human Services majors!).

If anything you read sounds even vaguely interesting, please contact Jana Murdock at koppertop@elon.edu for more information!
