Cited in the annual review of his catalog were four new commercial recordings (including When Freedom Swings, with Ira Wiggins and Cyrus Chestnut; Christmas with the John Brown big band and Neena Freelon; Carolina Tracks with Keith Waters and Jim Ketch; and Ben Seni Variations with Doug Richards and Howard Curtis), three new published compositions (including Just Ask, Step to Step, and You Got What?), dozens of performances in the United States and abroad, and being named to the Downbeat magazine Readers’ Poll in the Jazz Vibes category.

Jon Metzger Completes Residency /u/news/2013/10/19/jon-metzger-completes-residency/ Sat, 19 Oct 2013 16:55:00 +0000 /u/news/2013/10/19/jon-metzger-completes-residency/ Professor of Music, Jon Metzger, recently completed a four-day residency at the University of Central Arkansas at Conway.  While on campus, Metzger worked with the entire percussion studio, including five graduate students, for individual and small group mentoring sessions on jazz vibraphone techniques.  He also presented three master classes for the entire music department, performed with three separate jazz ensembles, and gave a solo recital.  Metzger’s appearance at UCA was co-sponsored by Musser and Pro-Mark.
