Important Spring 2016 Internship Orientation

Required for all LSB interns seeking academic credit

If you’re planning on completing an internship for credit this spring term, one of your first assignments is to attend the LSB Internship Orientation. At this meeting, Director of Internships Jan Pagoria will review the spring internship syllabus, including grading and deadlines, site visits and changes in the final project and performance expectations. To reserve your spot, stop by the Porter Center in KoBC 106 or email the Porter Center.

LSB Major Information Sessions – Nov. 4 & 5

If you declared a LSB major during spring/fall 2015 (or if you would like to learn more about a particular LSB major), sign up to attend one of these info sessions, which will include an overview of the ��ϲ�� Core Curriculum and LSB major requirements, opportunities within the major, as well as an overview of professional development.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Training Session – Sept. 23 and 24

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free income tax preparation for low-income tax payers. The Department of Accounting is sponsoring a VITA site for Jan.-Mar. 2016 and needs student volunteers to prepare the tax returns.

What are the benefits of participating in VITA? Learn about income tax, help the community and build your resume. This service will count towards an experiential learning requirement.

All volunteers must receive training and pass an IRS certification test. Attend one training session, then bi-weekly meetings for the rest of the semester.

Beta Alpha Psi Initiation – Sept. 1

��ϲ��’s Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honorary society recognizing students in the field of accounting, finance, and information systems, will hold its initiation ceremony for full-time members on Sept. 1st at 7:30pm in the LaRose Digital Theatre.

The initiation will be followed by an interest meeting for any accounting or finance major. This meeting will be from 7:45pm in the LaRose Digital Theatre. Prospective members will learn about the honor society and the rewards associated with being a member.

The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to the scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field.

This Includes:

Promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance, and information systems.
Providing opportunities for self-Development, service and association among members and practicing professionals.
Encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.
