His presentation included activities intended to engage students in the first-year writing classroom, as well as ways in which these exercises can be linked to one-shot library research instruction.

The conference invites scholars and library associates from around the world to share and collaborate research on the evolving role of information literacy in education. Shemkovitz’s presentation, “Recognizing the Conversation: Introducing Information Literacy in First-Year Writing”, added to a discussion about the role of new media technologies in research and information literacy.

Greg Shemkovitz teaches first-year writing and literature and is interested in creating more organic approaches to research and writing instruction.
