Jean Rattigan-Rohr, an assistant professor of education, was interviewed by News 14 Carolina on Feb. 19 regarding the benefits to North Carolina schools as a result of the economic stimulus package passed into law this month by Congress and President Barack Obama.

Crowe, and "Southern Culture: An Introduction" co-authored by assistant professor John Beck - as CHOICE Outstanding Academic Titles for 2008. The POWERless Energy Competition returned to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ this semester for a seven-week contest to see which residence halls can best reduce their electricity usage. The competition began Feb. 17 with a kick-off event at College Coffee.

The Leisure and Sport Management 227 event planning class held two events this semester, raising $1,850 for Loaves & Fishes Christian Food Ministry.

Results are in for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ during the first official week of RecyleMania 2009, a 10-week competition taking part on campuses across the nation to reduce waste and raise awareness about recycling. Overall cumulative pounds recycled (per capita) on campus is ahead of the data reported by the university last year at this stage of the contest.

Two ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ juniors have been named finalists for a 2008 Truman Scholarship, a prestigious national fellowship for graduate study awarded annually “to persons who demonstrate outstanding potential for and who plan to pursue a career in public service.”
