Students in a human services senior seminar participated in National Public Health Week last week by raising awareness of HIV/AIDS and how it can affect college students and the community alike.

Students, faculty and community members from across North Carolina met April 4 in ���ϲ�����’s Holt Chapel for the North Carolina Folklore Society’s Annual Conference, which included a presentation by three ���ϲ����� students who are documenting the cultural heritage of the Cowee community in western North Carolina through the analysis of people’s stories, local traditions and cultural landscapes.

Belk Library celebrated a milestone this month with the purchase of the university’s 300,000th volume, “Earth From Above,” a limited edition book that captures in dozens of colorful, detailed photos the different cultures and landscapes found around the globe.

The law touches every field of study, from biology to sociology to literature, and that interaction is the focus of the Center for Law and Humanities, a new academic initiative that teaches students to use lessons learned in the arts and sciences to examine the way legal questions affect society.
