Student presentations cap 2010 summer research program

Thirty-five students shared findings this week from recent work on campus as part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences, an eight-week program where scholars work full-time on a project in collaboration with a faculty mentor with expertise in the discipline.

Deborah A. Yow-Bowden ’74, a member of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Board of Trustees and one of the nation’s most respected figures in collegiate sports, has been named the new director of athletics at North Carolina State University. She becomes the first woman in N.C. State’s history to head the Wolfpack athletics program.

Author comes to campus for summer learning academy

Children’s book author Jane Belk Moncure made a visit to campus Tuesday as part of the Summer Learning & Enrichment Academy. Moncure, who earlier this year seeded an early childhood collection for the School of Education with a substantial donation of her books, spent time reading to children enrolled in the enrichment program for students with special classroom needs.
