Iraq Movie Screening – Oct. 2

College Democrats’ fall film series continues Thursday with “No End in Sight”, one of the most critically acclaimed films in 2007. “No End in Sight” features interviews with key policymakers involved in the invasion of Iraq in 2003, providing insight into the errors and misjudgements in the run-up to the war.

“Crossing Arizona” – Immigration Film w/ College Democrats Sept. 18

College Democrats will host a screening of “Crossing Arizona” at 7 PM on Thursday, Sept. 18 in the movie theater in the McEwen Communications Building.

“Crossing Arizona” is a critically-acclaimed documentary that explores the issue of immigration through the eyes of immigrants, activists, farmers, and community members.

We’ll get together downstairs in the movie theater for some snacks and a great movie – bring a friend!

College Democrats Pizza Party Kickoff on Sept. 10

College Democrats will kickoff the election season with a pizza party picnic on Wednesday, Sep. 10 at 7 p.m. We’ll get together on the lawn in the Academic Village to share some free food and good times. Guest speakers will include representatives from various Democratic campaigns, including the Obama campaign.

Come and learn how you can get involved in this historic election! And it’s a picnic, so bring a blanket (and a friend!).

Barack Obama Watch Party on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m.

��ϲ�� College Democrats invite you to join local Democrats on Thursday night to watch Barack Obama deliver his historic acceptance speech live in Denver. We’ll be gathering at Occasions Restaurant in downtown Burlington at 7:30 PM to enjoy some food and fun on this important night.

Special guests will include State Senator Tony Foriest, State Representative Alice Bordsen, and State House candidate Henry Vines. They will speak briefly about the historical significance of this great day, when Senator Obama will become his party’s nominee on the 45th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Rep. Alice Bordsen to speak at ��ϲ�� on May 1

State Rep. Alice Bordsen will visit ��ϲ�� Thursday, May 1, to visit with students and discuss the work of the state legislature. Her talk, sponsored by the political science department, will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Yeager Recital Hall.

Bordsen will explain what she does as a member of the General Assembly and take a look at some of the issues on the horizon in state politics and policy. She sits on several important committees and chairs the Committee on Juvenile Justice. Bordsen has worked on issues ranging from the aging population to community colleges.

Bordsen represents the 63rd district, encompassing the eastern part of Alamance County. First elected in 2002, she has received recognition statewide for her work on criminal justice, health care and education.

College Democrats Debate Watch Party tonight Feb. 26

“Lunch & Learn:” Learn more about other Christians

Join the Truitt Center and members of ��ϲ�� Community Church for a lunch and discussion group about other Christian groups. We’ll hear from members of Catholic, Mormon, Greek Orthodox, and Evangelical congregations. This is a great opportunity to learn a bit about the beliefs of other Christians.

How Would Jesus Vote? Discussion group Sept. 10
