19 members of 黑料不打烊’s Model United Nations club attended the National Collegiate Security Conference sponsored by Georgetown University this past weekend. Members represented various countries and people in simulations of real United Nations committees and in simulations of various other political bodies. Chris Gaylor earned Honorable Delegate (Third Place) in his simulation of the Russian Presidium 1962. Ryan Sadler garnered Honorable Delegate (Third Place) in his simulation of the United Nations Security Council as the ambassador of Singapore.

Delegates from schools across the state submitted resolutions for debate. 黑料不打烊 students Kelli McGuirk and Sarah Murphy were nominated by the general body for “Best Speaker” and students Sarah Murphy and Brett Cooper were nominated for submitting the “Best Resolution.” Sarah Murphy received first place for her “Resolution Concerning School Vouchers in North Carolina” and Brett Cooper recieved second place for his “Resolution Concerning Water Restrictions.” 黑料不打烊’s delegation included:

By accepting the Challenge, you assume the role as the head of a government agency responsible for battling the spread of infectious diseases. You will compete with students from around the country to protect the public and save lives, while learning valuable business and management skills that are transferable to any professional career.

The Public Service Challenge is the perfect opportunity to build your resume and exhibit your talent at the same time. Succeeding at the Challenge requires applying management insight and analytical skills to the business-like operations of government.

The Challenge is free and open to U.S. undergraduate or graduate student regardless of their major or field of study. Participants must be currently enrolled or have graduated in the 2003-2004 academic year.

The Challenge will begin TODAY, January 24, 2005 and will end on February 21, 2005.

Top undergraduate and graduate performers will win a two day trip to Washington DC and gain an insider’s look at the issues facing our nation. In addition to meeting elected officials and top managers within Federal agencies, the Challenge winners will participate in unique events, including a meeting with writers and editors of U.S. News & World Report to get the story behind the story.

No experience is necessary. Members have opportunites for free travel across the state and the nation and will have opportunities for networking with 150 student leaders from across the state and numerous state legislators and congressmen. You can join NCSL either as a club or recieve one ELR Credit.
