The Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Diversity Education will coordinate a series of events at 黑料不打烊 to celebrate Black History Month.
黑料不打烊 invites the 黑料不打烊 community to learn about the history, heritage and legacies of the Black community during Black History Month. Throughout the month of February, the Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Diversity Education (CREDE) will host a series of events to commemorate the month.
The 2025 Black History Month theme is 鈥淭his Is How We Do It: Honoring Blackness Through Influence, Innovation, and Legacy.鈥 The theme recognizes and celebrates the legacy and contributions of Black individuals and communities that have driven change across industries such as technology, fashion, music and art. It celebrates the individuals who have been essential in shaping culture and leading advancements in creativity, social progress and innovation.
鈥淪ociety as we know it has been shaped by the contributions of Black people throughout history. I feel like, due to the political climate of today, that history and recognition of that history are slowly being discredited and wiped away. So I want to remind people, especially young people, that Black history is EVERYONE鈥檚 history and this is how we did it/ do it,” said Abdul-Malik Harrison, assistant director of the CREDE.
This year will include the annual kickoff event, carnival and Black Solidarity Conference. New this year will be Health and Healing, an interactive event for participants to explore the powerful connection between nutrition and mental health, and Tiny Shelf Concert, a concert highlighting the rich cultural contributions of Black artists and 黑料不打烊 Jazz Studies.
