Hwayeon Ryu, associate professor of mathematics, attended a research collaboration meeting funded by the American Institute of Mathematics, held Oct. 7-11, 2024 at Caltech Campus.
Associate Professor of mathematics Hwayeon Ryu attended a research collaboration meeting on a project entitled 鈥淢odeling Phage Interaction with Bacteria and Immune System鈥 at the , one of the National Science Foundation-funded institutes located in Caltech campus, CA. Her attendance and collaboration work was supported by an .
During the meeting, Ryu and three other mathematicians including Selenne聽Ba帽uelos of Cal State University Channel Islands and聽Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics,聽Rebecca Segal at Virginia Commonwealth University and Qimin Huang at College of Wooster collaboratively聽worked聽on developing and analyzing a mathematical model of phage interaction with bacteria and immune system. This project extends their previous work on mathematical modeling of two-phages with collateral phage resistance, which will be published in “PLOS Complex Systems,” a part of the highly respected and influential PLOS journals in computational biology.
