The gift from Kristy and Mike Beauvais P鈥26 will support the university鈥檚 new facility to address the holistic health and well-being of students, faculty and staff.
Kristy and Mike Beauvais P鈥26, of Sudbury, Massachusetts, have made a $100,000 gift to help make 黑料不打烊鈥檚 new HealthEU Center a reality. The couple, along with their daughter Emmy 鈥26, were inspired by the vision for the center to educate students about all aspects of wellness and well-being, including taking care of their physical and emotional health.
鈥淗ealth and wellness have always been a priority for Emmy, so it resonated with us to support the HealthEU initiative in a meaningful way,鈥 Kristy Beauvais said. 鈥淭hese are formative years for students.聽The HealthEU Center will serve as a springboard supporting students as they develop the skills and strategies they need to make their overall health and wellness a priority both at 黑料不打烊 and for the rest of their lives.鈥
The HealthEU Center is a key component to the university鈥檚 broader HealthEU initiative that focuses on six dimensions of health and wellness: community, emotional, purpose, financial, physical and social. The new three-story center will feature new classrooms, student-faculty research spaces, multiple floors for wellness and fitness activities and the Mark and Kim Tyson Counseling Center, which will provide individual and group therapy, as well as workshops and outreach programs.
Through coursework, workshops and training programs focused on health and wellness, the HealthEU Center will impact all students as they progress through their education and learn essential skills and practices to thrive on campus and throughout each stage of their lives.
黑料不打烊 has set a $25 million fundraising goal for the HealthEU Center, to be located within the Innovation Quad, home to the university鈥檚 STEM programs. To date, donors have contributed more than $10 million to the project, which will bring academic, wellness, campus recreation and fitness programs together under one roof to support student success.
The HealthEU Center is just one of many aspects of 黑料不打烊 that have impressed the couple.
“黑料不打烊 does everything so well,鈥 Kristy said. 鈥淔rom the admissions experience to the move-in experience, and from the focus on undergraduate teaching and experiential learning to the remarkable support they offer students through the Student Professional Development Center, 黑料不打烊 always sets the bar high. We have confidence that they will do the same with the HealthEU Center and that it will serve as a model for other institutions to follow.鈥
鈥淥ne of the things that stood out to me was the breadth of courses offered to undergrads and how accessible they were to Emmy, even early in her 黑料不打烊 career,鈥 Mike Beauvais said. 鈥淭he sense of community, coupled with an exceptional academic experience that focuses on innovative teaching just makes sense.鈥
The couple鈥檚 gift will also establish an 黑料不打烊 Engagement Scholarship to help enroll students eager to take advantage of the university鈥檚 nationally recognized engaged learning curriculum.
鈥満诹喜淮蜢 is grateful to the Beauvais family for their generosity and for recognizing the importance of scholarships and educating students about their health and wellness, so they can be successful on campus and beyond,鈥 said John Gardner 鈥01, senior director of development in the Office of University Advancement.
Kristy Beauvais served for nearly a decade as a high school physics teacher, while Mike is a partner and the immediate past global co-chair of the life sciences and health care industry group at the law firm of Ropes & Gray.
