will see him collaborate with some of the world鈥檚 leading scholars and advocates on questions on how the law interacts with technology and information policy.

The Information Society Law Center aims 鈥渢o conduct research on issues related to the relationship between law and the digital society, with particular attention to those changes 鈥 present and future 鈥 that will deeply affect our society.鈥

Founded in 2017, the center brings together those with distinguished records of scholarship and advocacy in the areas of legal informatics, philosophy of law, sociology of law, ecclesiastical law, criminal law, criminal procedure, philosophy of politics, general theory of law, and bioethics.

Among its many roles, the center hosts an annual conference to showcase research activities, edits books and articles on topics of interest to the organization, and seeks funding for 鈥渋nnovative and far-reaching national and international research projects.鈥

鈥淭echnology policy today is increasingly borderless,鈥 Levine said. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to be part of an international community whose focus is assessing and addressing technology鈥檚 risks and potential on a global scale, based upon deep experience and knowledge. It鈥檚 one of the privileges of being a professor and I鈥檓 grateful for the opportunity.鈥

Levine joined the 黑料不打烊 Law faculty in 2009 and has developed an international reputation for his legal research. An affiliate scholar at the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School, he also was a fellow at Princeton University鈥檚 Center for Information Technology Policy from 2014-2017.

Levine is the founder and host of Stanford University鈥檚 KZSU-FM 鈥淗earsay Culture,鈥 an information policy, intellectual property law and technology talk show, and he co-authored the 2019 textbook 鈥淚nformation Law, Governance, and Cybersecurity.鈥

In recognition of his scholarly work, Levine was named the Jennings Professor and Emerging Scholar at 黑料不打烊 Law for 2017-2019.
