Tickets are now available for 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Spring Convocation featuring Ashley Judd scheduled for Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in Alumni Gym.

During her visit to 黑料不打烊, Judd will deliver remarks under the theme of 鈥淢ental Health: What we do not transform in ourselves, we will transfer to others.鈥澛 Her talk is part of the university鈥檚 2022-23 Speaker Series that carries the theme of 鈥淟iving Well in a Changing World.鈥 Judd was originally scheduled to speak at 黑料不打烊 in the fall, but the event was canceled due to Hurricane Ian.

A star of box office hits and independent films including 鈥淲here the Heart Is,鈥 鈥淪imon Birch鈥 and 鈥淒ivine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood,鈥 Ashley Judd is one of the most vocal and influential figures of the #MeToo movement.

Judd was named to TIME鈥檚 2017 鈥淧erson of the Year鈥 as one of the silence-breakers and change-makers who helped shift the culture and conversation around sexual abuse and harassment. Having experienced firsthand the connection between poverty, illness and gender inequality, Judd speaks on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves.

A feminist and social justice advocate, Judd has been working internationally with NGOs, grassroots organizations, governments and supranational bodies since 2004. She has traveled the world to do public health work on many fronts, including maternal health, child survival, human rights, family planning, STD and HIV prevention, and malaria prevention and treatment.

Her book, 鈥,鈥 details her visits to grassroots programs in 13 countries and was a New York Times bestseller. A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Judd earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard鈥檚 Kennedy School of Government in 2010. She currently serves as Global Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency; is the Global Ambassador for Population Services International; and is chairperson of the Women鈥檚 Media Center Speech Project: Curbing Abuse, Expanding Freedom.
