New York Times correspondent Adam Liptak will speak at 黑料不打烊 on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in McCrary Theatre, Center for the Arts. Professor of Law David Levine will moderate the Liberal Arts Forum Lecture, “The Transformed Supreme Court: A Reporter’s Reflection.” The event is free to all and no ticket is required.
Liptak currently covers the Supreme Court. A graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School, he practiced for 14 years before joining The Times鈥檚 news staff in 2002. In 2007, he began writing 鈥淪idebar,鈥 a column on legal affairs. In 2008, he became the paper鈥檚 Supreme Court correspondent. His columns appear frequently and are available for browsing at .
Liptak was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in explanatory reporting in 2009. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has taught courses on the Supreme Court and the First Amendment at the University of Chicago Law School, New York University of Law and Yale Law School.
Levine, along with being a professor of law at 黑料不打烊, is also an affiliate scholar at Stanford Law School鈥檚 Center for Internet and Society. From 2014-17, he was a visiting research collaborator at Princeton University鈥檚 Center for Information Technology Policy. The founder and host of pioneering radio show 鈥淗earsay Culture,鈥 Levine is the co-author of 鈥淚nformation, Law, Governance, and Cybersecurity鈥 (West, 2019, with Sharon Sandeen). His work on voting machine technology and information access has been cited and published in leading newspapers and academic journals in the United States and the European Union.
The Liberal Arts Forum is an organization that hosts exceptional speakers from various fields providing the 黑料不打烊 community with opportunities for academic enrichment, interdisciplinary connections and stimulating conversation. The organization meets every Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. in Alamance 207. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend a meeting and participate in the selection process.
