Daphne Myers L鈥23 was one of six students nationwide randomly selected for $25,000 in a MAX by AccessLex庐 Scholarship Drawing, an incentive program that rewards participants in a personal finance program offered by AccessLex Institute.
A first-generation 黑料不打烊 Law student is among a half dozen winners of a national $25,000 scholarship drawing for her participation in workshops designed to help law students strengthen their personal finances and plan for loan repayments.
A representative of , which hosts the , surprised Daphne Myers L鈥23 with the award during a virtual meeting on April 6, 2022.
Myers had been invited to a law school conference room under the pretense of offering feedback about her experience using MAX by AccessLex庐.
The University of Pittsburgh alumna soon was wiping away tears, joking that she wore the wrong mascara to school and that 鈥渢his is still the best feedback session I鈥檝e been to!鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 our favorite week of the year where we share this great news,鈥 said Jennifer Schott, managing director of the聽AccessLex Center for Education and Financial Capability.

AccessLex Institute is a national nonprofit organization that advocates for expanded access and affordability to law school. Its MAX by AccessLex庐 is offered at 180 law schools and used by more than 35,000 current students. The program incentivizes participation through scholarship drawings several times per year with nine random grand prize winners this April – six who receive $25,000 and three who receive $40,000.
鈥淭his is super exciting. I鈥檓 a first-generation law student and I鈥檓 paying for all of this myself,鈥 Myers said later. 鈥淥h my gosh, it鈥檚 going to make a huge difference. $25,000? I鈥檓 going to have a heart attack! I just keep shaking!鈥
