The Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service continues through 7 a.m. today and precipitation is expected to taper off by 1 p.m. With overnight temperatures in the low 30s some icy or slick spots are possible in the area, especially on elevated surfaces, such as bridges and overpasses.

Campus roads and walkways are wet, but have limited icing. Physical Plant staff have been checking conditions and addressing any areas of concern. Caution is advised when driving or walking because some slippery spots are possible. With temperatures rising into the mid 40s over the course of the day, conditions will continue to improve. Continued caution is advised later tonight and tomorrow morning, as colder temperatures could re-freeze any remaining precipitation on roads or sidewalks.

Some areas in the northern sections of our region received higher levels of ice in this storm. Faculty and staff who live some distance from campus and who might be prevented from safely traveling to campus should notify their respective dean (faculty) or supervisor (staff). Students who might be prevented from traveling safely should contact their instructors.

We are thankful that our area was spared the worst impact of this storm and appreciate the preparation of students, faculty and staff, as well as the efforts of the essential staff who kept campus operating yesterday. We also remain mindful of people in other areas of the country who are suffering the prolonged impact of severe weather and power outages.
