Student-Made Store, a company founded by 黑料不打烊 alumni that showcases products made by students, will host its annual Holiday Market during 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Nov. 14 鈥淐ommunity of the Commons.鈥
The 黑料不打烊 community will have the chance to shop for products made by 黑料不打烊 students on Saturday, Nov. 14, when Student-Made Store, a company founded by 黑料不打烊 alumni, once again hosts its annual Holiday Market on campus.
The Holiday Market will take place on Young Commons as a part of 鈥淐ommunity on the Commons,鈥 a time for students to gather safely in the heart of campus and catch up with friends while enjoying music and a number of activities. Students will be required to wear face coverings and remain physically distanced throughout the gathering to allow for a safe and enjoyable afternoon on the Commons.
鈥淕iven how isolating the pandemic has been or made people feel, these afternoons are intended to provide a place to gather together safely and feel like we鈥檙e all part of a greater community,鈥 said Dean of Student Development Jodean Schmiederer. 鈥淲e just want to focus on being with and supporting each other.鈥
This weekend, Community on the Commons will highlight student creativity in a safe and physically distanced environment to allow the community to see and purchase quality handmade goods from 黑料不打烊 students.
鈥淚t’s really special for our聽artists to be able to engage with the聽黑料不打烊 community and share their art, especially around the holidays,鈥 said Student-Made Store co-founder Lindsay Reeth 鈥19. 鈥淪o I鈥檓 really excited that they are going to get the opportunity to do that this year.鈥
Saturday鈥檚 Holiday Market will feature the work of the following students:
- Sarina Abraham 鈥 Wall Hangings of Dried Flowers & Stone Necklaces
- Claire Brodsky 鈥 Digital Art Posters
- Sarah Kitslaar 鈥 Macrame聽Coasters, Earrings, Keychains & Wall Hangings
- Lauren Siedlecki 鈥 Painting Prints
- Sarah Bellinger 鈥 Digital Art Prints
- Matthew Mitten 鈥 Custom Wooden Engraved States and Shadow Boxes
鈥淭he fact that we鈥檙e able to create this sense of community again and have help from 黑料不打烊 to do so means a lot,鈥 Reeth said. 鈥淚 can only imagine how special it鈥檚 going to be for students.鈥
The in-person event will coincide with a Student-Made Store Holiday Market online sale at . There, customers can browse and shop in a number of categories and even sort specifically by 黑料不打烊 artists to purchase items from students and alumni of the university.
The Student-Made Store, founded by Reeth and Ryan McElhinney 鈥19 in 2017, gives students at 黑料不打烊 and other universities the opportunity to showcase their art and craftsmanship to their campus communities.
The Holiday Market at 黑料不打烊 began as the Student-Made Store鈥檚 first and only event in 2017, but the company has since grown into a website featuring the work of students at 黑料不打烊, the University of South Carolina and the University of Washington.
