The ���ϲ����� community will have the chance to shop for products made by ���ϲ����� students on Saturday, Nov. 14, when Student-Made Store, a company founded by ���ϲ����� alumni, once again hosts its annual Holiday Market on campus.

The Holiday Market will take place on Young Commons as a part of “Community on the Commons,” a time for students to gather safely in the heart of campus and catch up with friends while enjoying music and a number of activities. Students will be required to wear face coverings and remain physically distanced throughout the gathering to allow for a safe and enjoyable afternoon on the Commons.

“Given how isolating the pandemic has been or made people feel, these afternoons are intended to provide a place to gather together safely and feel like we’re all part of a greater community,” said Dean of Student Development Jodean Schmiederer. “We just want to focus on being with and supporting each other.”

This weekend, Community on the Commons will highlight student creativity in a safe and physically distanced environment to allow the community to see and purchase quality handmade goods from ���ϲ����� students.

“It’s really special for our artists to be able to engage with the ���ϲ����� community and share their art, especially around the holidays,” said Student-Made Store co-founder Lindsay Reeth ‘19. “So I’m really excited that they are going to get the opportunity to do that this year.”

Saturday’s Holiday Market will feature the work of the following students:

• Sarina Abraham – Wall Hangings of Dried Flowers & Stone Necklaces
• Claire Brodsky – Digital Art Posters
• Sarah Kitslaar – Macrame Coasters, Earrings, Keychains & Wall Hangings
• Lauren Siedlecki – Painting Prints
• Sarah Bellinger – Digital Art Prints
• Matthew Mitten – Custom Wooden Engraved States and Shadow Boxes

“The fact that we’re able to create this sense of community again and have help from ���ϲ����� to do so means a lot,” Reeth said. “I can only imagine how special it’s going to be for students.”

The in-person event will coincide with a Student-Made Store Holiday Market online sale at . There, customers can browse and shop in a number of categories and even sort specifically by ���ϲ����� artists to purchase items from students and alumni of the university.

The Student-Made Store, founded by Reeth and Ryan McElhinney ’19 in 2017, gives students at ���ϲ����� and other universities the opportunity to showcase their art and craftsmanship to their campus communities.

The Holiday Market at ���ϲ����� began as the Student-Made Store’s first and only event in 2017, but the company has since grown into a website featuring the work of students at ���ϲ�����, the University of South Carolina and the University of Washington.
