Published in June by the Association of College & Research Libraries, 鈥淭he Engaged Library: High-Impact Educational Practices in Academic Libraries鈥 features contributions from several 黑料不打烊 librarians and teaching faculty.
Joan Ruelle, dean of the Carol Grotnes Belk Library has edited and co-authored a new book titled 鈥淭he Engaged Library: High-Impact Educational Practices in Academic Libraries鈥 and published June 2020 by the Association of College & Research Libraries.
According to George Kuh and the Association of American Colleges and Universities, high-impact educational practices are recognized as 鈥渁ctivities that promote student engagement, student retention, and positive student learning outcomes.鈥 鈥淭he Engaged Library鈥 provides case studies, examples, and discussion on how academic libraries can create successful partnerships to contribute to the integration of high-impact practices on their campuses, and ways to execute these practices well.
The book includes chapters co-authored by several 黑料不打烊 librarians and teaching faculty. Each chapter discusses one of the ten original high-impact practices through perspectives of library partnerships, contributions, and opportunities, and provides examples of outcomes assessment. Across all of the chapters and case studies are examples of practices that rely on instructional teams of faculty, advisers, librarians, and technology professionals to enhance and deepen the practices鈥 impact on student learning.
