Schar Center will host the 2021 CAA Women's Basketball Championship after the 2020 event at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ was canceled to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Following the sudden cancellation of the , presented by Sonabank, the CAA has announced the event will return to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and Schar Center in March 2021.
The remainder of the 2020 Championship, scheduled for March 11-14, was cancelled after one day of tournament play to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The event marked the first conference championship hosted at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s state-of-the-art, 5,100 seat arena.
Each of the conference’s 10 athletics directors voted in favor of the decision in a show of support for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
The CAA’s decision will delay the current hosting schedule by a year. After ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ hosts in 2021, the Championship will be played at James Madison in 2022, Towson in 2023, Drexel in 2024 and at the College of William & Mary in 2025.
