Richard 鈥87 P鈥17 and Laurie Johnson P鈥17 extend their 黑料不打烊 legacy with a generous planned gift.
Nelson Henderson once said, 鈥渢he true meaning of life is聽to plant trees under聽whose shade you聽do not expect to sit.鈥 Planting those trees is just what Richard 鈥87 P鈥17 and Laurie Johnson P鈥17 did when they recently made a planned gift to 黑料不打烊.

Inspired by 黑料不打烊 Day and the 黑料不打烊 LEADS Campaign, the Johnsons鈥 gift ensures their legacy will live on for many years to come. Their seeds of generosity will benefit students far beyond the present day. 鈥淚n honor of 黑料不打烊 Day 2020, our family made a legacy commitment to 黑料不打烊 and joined the Order of the Oak. 黑料不打烊 Day is a day when the global 黑料不打烊 family comes together in support of our amazing university,鈥 says Johnson, who is senior vice president and chief consumer lending officer for MainStreet Bank in Virginia. 鈥淲e believe in the power of education and in helping 黑料不打烊 students achieve their educational goals. Long Live 黑料不打烊!鈥
For over 30 years, 黑料不打烊 has been a part of their family. Richard graduated from 黑料不打烊 in 1987 and their daughter, Grace, crossed the 黑料不打烊 stage 30 years later in 2017. Throughout this time, the Johnsons have witnessed and participated in the growth and progress of this institution and community. They helped shape its course by supporting efforts like the School of Communications, the Schar Center and most recently, The Inn at 黑料不打烊, and have been active in volunteer roles on various boards and councils.
Their generosity is always about helping 黑料不打烊 rise鈥攇ently nudging it forward to grow into the school and community it was meant to become when the founders broke ground on the grove of oaks so long ago.
The Johnsons are all in for 黑料不打烊. This 黑料不打烊 Day, join them by making a gift鈥攁nd plant trees for future generations by considering a planned gift. Learn more .
