Under a new agreement, exceptionally qualified students attending Meredith College in Raleigh will be able to earn their undergraduate and law degrees in five and a half years.
One of the nation’s largest women’s colleges has partnered with ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law to assist exceptionally qualified students who aspire to earn their undergraduate and law degrees in five and a half years.
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law will consider applications from students who have completed all required courses and need more elective credits to graduate. If admitted to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law, students begin earning credits toward their law degree, and appropriate credits can be transferred to Meredith for completion of undergraduate degrees.
Unlike most agreements of this kind, which are typically six-year programs, the Meredith College-ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law agreement enables students to earn a bachelor's and law degree in five and a half years, substantially reducing costs by starting law school early and gaining early entry into the profession.
Applicants to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law must demonstrate superior academic ability with LSAT scores that meet ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law’s standards for admission. All applicants are interviewed by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law faculty and staff as part of the law school’s holistic approach to admissions.
Meredith College is the fifth college or university to partner with ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law for an accelerated pathway program, joining ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, Guilford College, North Carolina A&T, and Salem College.
“Nearly all Meredith College students participate in applied learning experiences, such as internships, study abroad or undergraduate research, so ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law’s highly experiential focus, highlighted by our residency program, is a perfect fit for their legal education,” said Alan Woodlief, senior associate dean and an associate professor at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law. “For the past several years, women have made up the majority of our entering classes, and we look forward to many talented students from Meredith joining our accelerated program.”
Chartered in 1891, Meredith College enrolls 1,700 undergraduates and 300 graduate students, the latter group including some men. Students attend Meredith from 33 states and 39 countries with more than 80 majors, minors, and concentrations, and 19 graduate and certificate programs.
