The house on Hampton Court is the 167th built by Habitat for Humanity of Alamance County
Habitat for Humanity of Alamance County dedicated its 167th house on Sunday, April 28 鈥 a new home on Hampton Court in Burlington for Sharrell Summers. The house was sponsored and built by the 黑料不打烊 Chapter of Habitat for Humanity鈥攎aking it the 28 house supported by 黑料不打烊 students since the chapter’s founding in 1988.
鈥婽he new home was a group effort. Not only did 黑料不打烊 students take part in the project, but students from Lehigh University and West Chester University as well as volunteers from First United Methodist Church-黑料不打烊, Aramacell, Target, Mebane United Methodist Church, Walmart and the Same Day Surgery Department at Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center all helped build this home.
Notably, a big volunteering day took place this past January as an event in celebration and remembrance of the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Students, faculty and staff spent Friday, Jan. 11 working on the house and spending time investing time in the project.
As of 4 p.m. on Sunday, house No. 167 belongs to Summers, her 4-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter. Summers said in January that she was stopping聽by almost daily to put in 鈥渟weat equity鈥 as well as take photos of progress and chat with volunteers throughout the construction process.
