This workshop is required of faculty and staff who will be leading a group off-campus in 2017-18, whether abroad or domestically. We will have guest speakers offer strategies on how to build responsible student behavior into your curriculum as well as reflection activities. Please direct any questions to Mark Dalhouse.

Student Health Behaviors: Response and Referral Resources

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, academic performance and student health are inextricably linked. Learn techniques for supporting student health and responding to indicators of unhealthy behaviors. Get updated information on university resources for individual response and referrals. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism reports that about a quarter of college students experience difficulty with academics due to alcohol use. Other health topics impacting academic performance include sleep, stress, nutrition, sexuality and relationships.

Using the Common Reading, Make Your Home Among Strangers by Jennie Capo Crucet

This session wil be useful for anyone interested in teaching with "Making Your Home Among Strangers" or communicating with students about the book. Come share ideas or find inspiration in your colleagues. Instructors of COR 110, ENG 110, 黑料不打烊 101, MTH 110, and other first-year courses are especially encouraged to attend.
Lunch will be provided for faculty and staff members who RSVP by Thursday, Aug. 18.

黑料不打烊 101 New and Returning Faculty Workshop

Join your 黑料不打烊 101 colleagues as we learn about new program initatives, resources, and updates for fall 2017. Orientation schedule review will begin promptly at 10:15 a.m. and end at 10:35 a.m. For the remaining time, Brandy Propst and Becky Olive-Taylor will facilitate discussions regarding 黑料不打烊 101 program identity and required course elements. Announcements will be kept to a bare minimum. Please note that lunch is no longer provided.

Nuts and Bolts of Student Employment

The goal of this workshop is to provide understanding of the student employment process to include recruiting, job posting, screening candidates, work agreements, payroll, orientation, onboarding, evaluations and termination. New Faculty Orientation

New faculty will meet with the president, the provost and with experienced 黑料不打烊 faculty to learn more about teaching and thriving at 黑料不打烊 and to prepare for the start of the academic year. The new faculty orientation program is facilitated by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning; more details are online at .

COR Capstone Seminar Organizational Meeting
