Members of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community will gather Sunday night to watch the second of three debates between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.
The Oct. 9 watch event is designed to help educate students about the candidates and issues at stake in this November’s election and takes place at 9 p.m. in the Moseley Center First Floor. The first presidential debate event on Sept. 26 to Moseley Center and .
This is one of a series of programs this fall designed to enhance civic engagement efforts on campus. The series is supported by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Votes! and the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Political Engagement Work Group.
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Votes! is a nonpartisan campus initiative created to provide students with the necessary resources to register to vote and learn about issues at stake in upcoming elections. The initiative is run by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students June Shuler and Gabby Vance, who serve as Andrew Goodman Foundation ambassadors. The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s Vote Everywhere is a nonpartisan, experiential program that recruits, trains and supports emerging leaders at colleges and universities across the country.
The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Political Engagement Work Group is a nonpartisan collaborative team that involves students, faculty, and staff representing areas such as the Department of Political Science, Study USA, Center for Leadership, Student Government Association, Residence Life, Student Media, Truitt Center, and National Campaign for Political and Civic Engagement. The group’s charge is to implement voter education activities and increase student participation in local, state, and national voting and election initiatives.
