Barrett Wilbert Weed '11 was recognized for her lead actress role in Signature Theatre's "Cabaret."
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ music theatre alumna Barrett Wilbert Weed ’11 was honored May 23 at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., with a prestigious Helen Hayes Award.
Weed received the award for lead actress in a musical after portraying the vivacious Sally Bowles in Signature Theatre’s production of “Cabaret” last summer.
This is the first award win for Weed, who was also nominated in 2014 for a Drama Desk Award and a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical for her role in “Heathers: The Musical,” nominated alongside Sutton Foster, Idina Menzel, Jessie Mueller and Kelli O’Hara.
The Helen Hayes Award recognizes excellence in professional theatre in the Washington, D.C.-area since 1983. The awards are presented by theatreWashington, the unified voice of Washington theatre since the 1980s.
