Faith Rivers James, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law’s associate dean for experiential learning and leadership, and professor of law, presented on ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law’s pioneering leadership program this week in Georgia, at both a scholar/practitioner workshop and a national conference.
At the fall 2015 workshop of the National Institute for Teaching Ethics and Professionalism (NIFTEP), held Nov. 6-8 in Atlanta, Rivers James presented on ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law’s multi-year leadership curriculum.
“ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law is the first and only law school to have a comprehensive leadership development program for every law student,” said Rivers James. “We use experiential methods to train students in problem solving, giving and receiving feedback, working in practice teams and more.”
On Nov. 9, Rivers James presented at NIFTEP’s 2015 W. Lee Burge Professionalism Conference titled “Lawyers as Leaders.” The conference was hosted by Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta, and was co-sponsored by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia and the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Professionalism.
At the conference, Rivers James presented on a panel titled, “Leadership Education for Every Law Student?” She noted that ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law’s Leadership Program was recognized in 2013 with the E. Smythe Gambrell Award, the American Bar Association’s top award for excellence in legal professionalism programming.
