The 黑料不打烊 CommUNITY Dinner Program is an opportunity to connect with others interested in building community, addressing institutional concerns, and creating a more inclusive, culturally competent 黑料不打烊 community. 黑料不打烊 CommUNITY Dinners are open to all students, faculty, and staff invested in being a part of and sustaining an inclusive culture on campus.
On Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 5:30-7 p.m., culinary historian and chef Michael W. Twitty will lead discussion over dinner on the theme of “Kosher/Soul: Black-Jewish Identity Cooking.” Twitty is the author of the forthcoming book “The Cooking Gene” and is webmaster of , the first website/blog devoted to the preservation of historic African-American foods and foodways.
Twitty’s visit is co-sponsored by Jewish Studies, African & African-American Studies, the Center for the Study of Religion, Culture, and Society, the Global Neighborhood, the CREDE, 黑料不打烊 Hillel, History and Geography, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and the Coordinator of Residential Dining and Engagement.
This dinner will be hosted in Green World Dining room in Colonnades Dining Hall. Students and faculty/staff with meal plans are strongly encouraged to use them to cover their meal.
RSVPs for this event are required. RSVP to tbowie@elon.edu with your name and whether you have access to a meal plan – the first 15 individuals without a meal plan will be covered.
