ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ hosted the Southern Rugby Conference championship tournament this past weekend.
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ entered at the 6th seed. President Lambert came out to support the team as they showed why they were one of the best in the Southern Rugby Conference. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ started the day playing the #1 seed Wilmington. Two late tried by Senior Nicolai Dibagio led ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ to a tie with UNCW. Next ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ would play #2 seed Furman University. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ showed they were ready to play with the best and handed Furman a rare loss with a great effort from everyone on the field. To finish pool play ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ beat a conference b-team (to replace Lander who dropped out). ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ entered the semi-finals and lost a tough game to ECU 10-5. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ beat Wilmington in the 3rd place consolation game. ECU went on to win the tournament, beating Coastal Carolina 35-7. ECU will represent the Southern Conference at USA Rugby nationals in Denver, CO Memorial Day weekend.
