Celebrate the National Day on Writing through one of the many events being planned on campus from noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 20.
The Writing Excellence Initiative and the Writing Center are hosting events across campus to celebrate writing in all its forms: through photos, film and graphics; with pens, pencils and computers; in graphs, etchings and murals; on sidewalks, screens and paper.
All events being held on Oct. 20 will be from noon to 4 p.m. Participants will earn collectors buttons at each installation, so come out and collect them all!
1. “Design a Meme” Contest for Students
Students are invited to design a digital meme related to writing. The memes will be shared via the WEI Facebook page and on e-boards in the Writing Center. One grand prize winner will win a “Writer’s Tool Kit,” which includes merchandise valuing over $100. Prizes will be awarded to six runner ups as well! Submit your Meme on the WEI Facebook page: .
2. Sidewalk Talk
Come out to the concrete walkway right near the Lakeside Patio edges to participate in a writing activity using sidewalk chalk. Writing Prompt: Where are you from and what would you like the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community to know about your hometown?
3. Community Advice Board
Come to the first floor of the Belk Library outside the Writing Center and add to the “ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Community Advice Board.” Grab a “Tip Slip” and post your topic on our Advice Board for all to read!
4. “I ‘heart’ my ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Community” Graffiti Wall
Come write your favorite thing about the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community on the glass board in Moseley.
