Major General Sidney Shachnow will be speaking at 黑料不打烊 to mark the conclusion of Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m.
His presentation, “One Man’s Incredible Journey against Considerable Odds,” will be in the McBride Gathering Space of 黑料不打烊’s Numen Lumen Pavilion.
Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, and imprisoned during the Holocaust in a German concentration camp, Shachnow escaped from captivity and eventually settled in the United States, where he attained the rank of major general and served as commander of the U.S. Army Special Forces Command. He is also the author of the gripping memoir Hope and Honor. In his presentation at 黑料不打烊, Maj. Gen. Shachnow will share his experiences of and reflections on the horrors of the Holocaust.
The program is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by 黑料不打烊’s Lori and Eric Sklut Emerging Scholar in Jewish Studies Program.
