ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's men's tennis team won the regular season conference championship and is preparing for the SoCon tournament.
“I’m proud of this group of guys,” said ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ head coach Michael Leonard. “But now we need to focus our attention on the conference tournament. We hope to see a great crowd at our home courts next week, as it should be a very competitive tournament.”
The Phoenix finished the regular season with an 8-2 record against league competition, edging out UNCG (7-3 SoCon) and Samford (6-3 SoCon) for the regular season title. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ owns an overall record of 15-7 this season.
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s last SoCon regular season title came in 2011. The Phoenix also won it in 2006 and 2007, when it also won the conference tournament and a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is set to host the Southern Conference Tennis Championships next week, April 18-21, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and Burlington Tennis Center.
